Michail is a pragmatic idealist who firmly believes that positive social impact and financial returns can and should go hand in hand. With an interdisciplinary background spanning international relations, international development, and international business, he excels in unraveling the complex interplay between economics and politics on the global stage. This aptitude enables him to evaluate multifaceted risks and uncover transformative opportunities that influence the paths of organizations and investors. Throughout his professional journey, Michail has delved into projects ranging from geopolitical risk analysis for research think tanks, social impact measurement for non-profit organizations, and developing corporate sustainability strategies for auto component manufacturers. Most recently, as an Associate Consultant in a boutique advisory firm in New York City, Michail collaborated with industry experts, helping private equity firms identify critical risks and levers essential for driving value creation within their portfolio companies. Michail's current role at 17 Asset Management signifies a pivotal turning point in his career as he endeavors to merge his analytical consulting prowess and diverse background with his unwavering dedication to social impact and sustainability.
A global citizen, born and raised on the idyllic Crete island of Greece and currently residing in New Jersey, Michail embarked on an academic odyssey that began with his valedictorian graduation from an International and Area Studies B.A. program in Athens. Subsequently, he was awarded an academic excellence scholarship that enabled him to pursue an M.A. at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and later a second M.A. at the Fletcher School, Tufts University, where he specialized in ESG-related topics within the realm of international business. When Michail isn't fully immersed in his professional endeavors and passion for social justice, he channels his energy into his lifelong love for basketball, cultivated since his early childhood when he fanatically followed NBA games, even though he was located in Europe. Additionally, he is a bibliophile of philosophical works, exploring treatises from ontological and existential subjects to social, political, and economic theories. This enthusiasm for intellectual exploration mirrors his commitment to continuously broadening his horizons and relentlessly questioning the world around him.
